MINING METHOD

Symptoms of internal bleeding                        Bleeding   :From nose,ears,mouth.                  Restlessness   : Throwing about of arms and pulling the clothing at the neck.              Air hunger  :Yawning,sighing,call for air,distressed efforts to breathe,service thirst. First aid- The injured loader shall be laid on a stretcher and covered with a blankent.He shall be transported to the doctor as soon as possible.Attendance clerk shall be asked to infrom the doctor and keep ambulance ready.

  The injured person shall be brought to a clean place in a comfortable position.Blood escapes with less force when the victim sits,and still less when he lies down.If there is no fracture,the bleeding parts shall be elevated.The wound shall be exposed,removing as little clothing as possible.Any visible foreign bodies shall be picked out,and the wound wiped out lightly with a clean dressing.A clot shall not be dressed. Sterilised dressing shall be applied.If it is bleeding,a sterile gauze pad shall be placed over the wound and kept pressed with fingers until the blood clots.If bleeding continues, tourniquet (or a bandage 50-60mm wide and 1.2m long),shall be applied only tight enough to control bleeding. Tourniquet shall be loosened every 15minutes.Time applying tourniquet shall be noted on a piece of paper and attached to it. First-aid  station is a place fixed by the manger for rendering first-aid to person injured.Every first-aid station is provided with equipment as prescribed in the Third schedule of mines Rules namely: a stretcher and two blanket,Sets of splints(1.4m,0.9m,0.3m,)and sufficient tringular bandages.First-aid boxes(or cupboards),one per150 person,containin sufficient supply of large and small dressings and burn dressings,sufficient supply of sterilised cotton and adhesive plaster,roller bandages,Dettol or other antiseptic solution,a tourniquet,scissors and safety pins,soap.                                                  First aid station shall be provided at the following places On surface:-                     At pit top/incline mouth.In workshop,screening plant and    ...

  Arrangements for first-aid                               According to mines rules1955,the following arrangements are made for first-aid in mines: First-aid Room on surface      First-aid station at specified place on surface,in opencast mines and in underground working.First-aid out fit with every overman,mining Sirdar,shotfirer,fitter and electrician.Ambulance van                    First-aid training to maximum number of employees, and refresher training to first-aid certificate holders.
