Mine Development

 Mine wil be developed in panels. Barrier between two panels shall be one pillar thicks.Height of any gallery at any place shall not exceed 3m and the witdh shall not exceed 4.8m.For mechanised mining,DGMS may permit larger width.Size of pillar shall depend on depth from surface and width of the gallery.Minimum pilar size is prescribed in the regulations.Normally  pillars shall rectangular in shape.No narrow main or advance heading shall be driven more than 3m ahead of the widened gallery.Seam shall not be developed by ug method where hard cover over the seam is less than 7.5.If hard cover is more than 7.5m but less than 15m, development shall be done with permission from DGMS.No warking shall be made within a distance equal to half the pillar size,for the depth from surface and a gallery width of 4.8m,from the the boundry of mine so that two adjacent mines have a barrier of one pillar. Where work is done in more than one seam,barriers at the boundary shall,as far as practicable,be verticlly coincident and of the same dimensions.When development has be done with 60m of  mine boundary,managment of the adjacent mine shall be informed.The following types of working shall not be done without prior permission from DGMS:(A)Working in more than one section in any seam.(B)Working in two seams or section lying within 9m of rech other.(C) Working within 45 m of ,-Railway or public works or public road,or building or other permanent structure not belonging to owner owner of the mine.(D) Verticlly below or within horizontal distance of 15m from a river,canal,lake,tank or other surface reservoir.,Within 60m of a waterlogged working.

Audio visual alarm

  When a truck or dumper backs up a person standing behind the vehicle may get crushed.To alert such a person truck/dumpers are provided with audio visual alarm.As soon as the vechile is put in reverse gear, a special horn starts blowing and the backlight flashes.It is a statutory requirements that truck,dumper or loader shall not be run unless the audio visual alarm is working.
