Explain types of steel supports used in devlopment and de-pillaring districts.

 

Steel supports:-                                                                In devlopment and de-pillaring districts these districts   these days,mainly 3types of supports are used: pit props,steel chocks/cog stools,roof bolts.     
pit props  :                                                                       pit props are hollow steel props at the end of which a shorts length of wood has been hammered.They are light,can be transported easily from one place to another and convenient because their length can be varied easily as required.     
Steel chocks/Cog stools  :                                                These are made of 7.2mm×7.2mm square hollow section steel(thickness 4.8mm)in the form of a cube 900mm×900mm.They are provided with corner plates and are strengthen by welding cross member.                                   
Roof bolts  :                                                                 Roof bolts have provided to be more successful than other types of steel supports.Bolts are usually cement grouted, but where roof is particularly weak(RMR40or less)Or where roof is seepage of water from the roof,bolts are grouted with chemical resin.In some place they are use in conjunction with Wstraps also.

Audio visual alarm

  When a truck or dumper backs up a person standing behind the vehicle may get crushed.To alert such a person truck/dumpers are provided with audio visual alarm.As soon as the vechile is put in reverse gear, a special horn starts blowing and the backlight flashes.It is a statutory requirements that truck,dumper or loader shall not be run unless the audio visual alarm is working.
