DUTIES OF TRUCK/DUMPER OPERATORS
Before commencing work,truck driver or dumper operator shall check the vehicle-especially brake,parking brake, emergency break,steering,horn, audio-visual alarm,tyre pressure.If he finds any defect which is likely to make driving unsafe,he shall report the matter to the competent person and shall not operate it until the defects has been rectified.He shall write report of his inspection. Windshield shall be kept clean. Before moving the dumper,he shall blow horn.He shall not drive the vehicle at an excessive speed keep it under control at all times,and pay attention to road sign.He shall negotiate downhill gradient in low gear so that minimum breaking is required.He shall keep sufficient distance from the vehicle a head,particularly from a vehicle with twin rear wheels from which a stone piece,wedged between the tyres,may fly back into wind screen of his vehicle.He shall not attempted to overtake another vehicle unless he can see clearly far a head to be sure he can pass it safely.He shall blow horn before overtaking.When approaching a loading machine he shall sound the horn,and and shall not attempted to go near or pass it until he has received a proper audible signal in reply.Befor crossing a road or railway line,he shall reduce his speed,look in both directions along the road or line,and shall cross it if is safe to do so.He shall not operator the truck or dumper in reverse unless he has a clear view of area behind the vehicle,or he has the assistance of a spotter or Pitman,duly authorised in writing by the manager.He shall give an audible warning signal,before reversing the vehicle.Driver shall sound an audible warning signal while approaching a behind corners or any other points from where persons may walk in front unexpectedly.He shall not come out or put his head out of a dumper while it is being loaded.Driver shall not park the vehicle where there may be a danger.He shall avoid parking on a gradient.He shall park the vehicle-in reverse gear,on level roads and down gradients,and in low gear on up gradients.
