Duties and responsibilities of mining sirdar

Mining sardar shall obey of superior official.Keep control on work in the district assigned to him.Make all efforts to ensure observance of the Act, regulations and orders issued thereunder.If anyone contravenes the provisions,he shall in form the overman immediately.He shall carry out all inspection required by the Regulations and write report.In beginning of the shift,he shall take charge from mining sardar of the previous shift underground.If the mine is not worked in succession of shifts,he shall within 2 hours before commencement of work in the shift inspect all working places and roadways where person have to work or pas durring the shift. During the inspection he shall be accompanied by such assistant as may be necessary and shall ascertain the conditions regarding- (a) Ventilation  (b)Sanitation (c) Presence of gases (d)State of roof and sides.(e)Presence of spontaneous heating and other fire risks.                                                  Inspection during the shift: Inspection similar to the above shall be carried out at least once in every 4 hours.He shall see that workmen are doing their job carefully.If he finds any workman at a place where he is not authorised to go he may order him to leave the mine and inform the overman.                                       Support : The mining sirdar Shall arrange to dress and support roof and sides of all working places and roadways to make them safe.He shall observe systematic support rules strictly.Make sure that no support is withdrawn without a safety prop withdrawer.He shall ensure availability of Sylvester machine chain and rope for the purpose.Ensure availability of Bunton and ladder.If height at any place is more than 3m.                                        Precautions against dangers : If he finds any place unsafe or gets repot of a danger which cannot be removed immediately,he shall ' withdraw the persons from such place,not leave the place until the danger is removed or the place is fenced off'  He shall take care that any dangerous work is done with due Precautions and shall be present throughout whenever any work of clearing of falls of ground and setting of support therein is beging carried out.He shall arrange to fence off entries to place not being worked or used.If he finds an accumulation of inflammable or noxious gases,he  shall withdraw all person from the place fence it off and report the matter to the superior official.He shall not attempted to remove the danger without his instructions.Report to the overman any deficiency of air.                                                                  In case of an accident : On receiving information of accident in the district he shall reach there immediately.inspect the place,if required,supervise rescue operation and report or send information of accident to the overman, manager, assistant manager.                                                           Inspection of second outlet: If any of the two exit routes to surface is not ordinarily used for travelling he shall travel the whole such way at least once in every 7 days to remain acquainted with the same.  He shall devote the whole of his time to duties and shall not leave the mine without handing overcharge to mining sirdar of the succeeding shift in the district.He shall also write a description report of his shift.

Audio visual alarm

  When a truck or dumper backs up a person standing behind the vehicle may get crushed.To alert such a person truck/dumpers are provided with audio visual alarm.As soon as the vechile is put in reverse gear, a special horn starts blowing and the backlight flashes.It is a statutory requirements that truck,dumper or loader shall not be run unless the audio visual alarm is working.
