Dangers in blasting in hot strata                          *Danger of  premature blasting of explosives. *Danger of misfire                         Precautions : DGMS permission shall be obtained.Only slurry or emulsion shall be used. Blasting shall be done with detonating fuse down the hole, Detonator shall not be placed in the hole. Temperature at bottom of blast holes shall be measured and recorded after drilling and every shift thereafter .If temperature of hole exceeds 80° C,it shall not be charged.All holes shall be kept filled with water.A hole traversed by cracks and fissures shall not be charged unless it is lined with an asbestos pipe and the hole filled with water.In addition,bentonite shall be used for sealing cracks at the bottom of holes. Before loading explosives,the detonating fuse shall be cut from the reel.Stemming shall be commenced only after charging all holes. Detonating fuse shall not be laid on the hot ground.It may be placed on a layer of wet sand.Number of holes in a round shall be limited.Charging and firing of holes shall be completed expeditiously and in any case within 2 hours.Holes shall not be sleeper.For stemming,wet stone chips/drill cuttings or wet sand shall be used.Blasting operation shall be under direct supervision of an assistant manger/Blasting officer.

  When a truck or dumper backs up a person standing behind the vehicle may get crushed.To alert such a person truck/dumpers are provided with audio visual alarm.As soon as the vechile is put in reverse gear, a special horn starts blowing and the backlight flashes.It is a statutory requirements that truck,dumper or loader shall not be run unless the audio visual alarm is working.
