Duties and Responsibilities of Over man

 The over man shall have responsible charge and control of his district,carry out duties assigned by the manager and make inspection and write report required by the regulations.He shall carry a tracing of the district under his charge and keep it updated.                                                                   To ensure proper warking,saftey and discipline,he shall #enforce provisions of Regulations.*implement directives of manager and senior officials,and keep control overman. For this,he shall- ( A)Monitor work of officials and competent person(.B)-Give necessary direction,( c)-Make inspection , particularly to chek that:Supplies(timber,brattice, stemming material,roof bolts etc)are sufficient and kept in convenient places. VENTILATION :divice are maintained in good order, ventilation is adequate (brattices/air pipe are extended to4.5 m of face) safety lamps are used by mining sirdar/shotfirers and competent person. there is no accumulation of gas in the working.*Haulage:-track and tramlines are properly laid,graded,ballasted,manholes are kept safe,clear,white washed,safety device are provided and used; sufficient sprage are kept available,stop use if any rope,chain,signal,brake etc is unsafe.Men travel by travelling Road way only.*Danger(observed or reported) is removed promptly,and the place fenced off adequate ly. Discipline is maintained,person violating rules may be sent out of the mine. WORKING PLACE:are safe supperts are set as per systematic support rules.He shall make inspection as often as required or possibly and shall spend whole of his shift on his work.At end of the shift,he shall Confer with overman of the incoming shift,and write a report regarding work,saftey and discipline.

Audio visual alarm

  When a truck or dumper backs up a person standing behind the vehicle may get crushed.To alert such a person truck/dumpers are provided with audio visual alarm.As soon as the vechile is put in reverse gear, a special horn starts blowing and the backlight flashes.It is a statutory requirements that truck,dumper or loader shall not be run unless the audio visual alarm is working.
