recautions to Prevent spontaneous heating Depilliaring                                           Depillaring with panels of such size that extraction can be completed within incubation period.Blasting the stools/ribs lefts in goaf to ensure regular fall of roof and goaf consolidation.Minimising coal left in the goaf.In BG panels,injecting CO2 or N2 from time to time.Not leaving stowing lag in goaf. 

Sealed goaves -Good construction,regular inspection and timely maintenance of isolation stopping.Keeping pressure differential across sealed off areas low to prevent leakage of air.Blanketing the surface over goaves panel.Crack filling and consolidation from time to time.Regular air sampling and analysis to keep a watch on conditions in sealed off area.   
Unsealed developed workings                    Doing skeletal development upto the boundary,and then simultaneous devlopment/depilliaring to eliminate the problem of old devloped working.Keeping old developed workings isolated.Regular removal of fallen coal and thick stone dusting.Ensuring adequate ventilation.         
Opencast workings                                           Regulating the blasting to prevent over breaks/cracks in coal seam/exposed coal.Preventing accumulation of loose coal on exposedidle bench.

  When a truck or dumper backs up a person standing behind the vehicle may get crushed.To alert such a person truck/dumpers are provided with audio visual alarm.As soon as the vechile is put in reverse gear, a special horn starts blowing and the backlight flashes.It is a statutory requirements that truck,dumper or loader shall not be run unless the audio visual alarm is working.
